GoFundMe For Flag-Defending Frat Guys Raises Nearly Half a Mil in 1 Day

A GoFundMe campaign set up to raise money to throw a party for the frat boys who were seen holding an American flag up off the ground at UNC Chapel Hill earlier this week has raised nearly half a million dollars in just 24 hours.

Lemme tap that microphone and repeat: nearly half a million dollars.

It all started when a group of young male students with the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity were caught on camera holding up a U.S. flag after pro-Palestine protesters tried to rip it down from its flagpole on the UNC quad and replace it with a Palestinian flag. The boys keep Old Glory from touching the ground even as agitators surrounded them, pelting them with liquid and water bottles and screaming obscenities.

The video quickly went viral on social media, prompting someone to set up a fundraiser to throw the young men a party as a reward for being, well, the exact opposite of an America-hating moron.

“Commie losers across the country have invaded college campuses to make dumb demands of weak University Administrators. But amidst the chaos, the screaming, the anti-semitism, the hatred of faith and flag, stood a platoon of American heroes,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“Armored in Vineyard Vines and Patagonia, fueled by Zyn and White Claws, these triumphant Brohemians protected Old Glory from the unwashed Marxist horde -- laughing at their shrieks and wails and shielding the Stars & Stripes from Soviet missiles,” the hilarious description goes on.

The page then asks people to chip in to “throw this frat the party they deserve, a party worth of the boat-shoed Broleteriat who did their country proud.”

The fund had surpassed $435,000 by 3 p.m. Thursday - including one single donation of $10,000 - with no sign of slowing down. An update to the page explains that “Go Fund has dispatched a member of their team to work closely with us and ensure your donations do as God intended -- to show these guys enough fireworks to blow their Oakley aviators straight off their faces.”

HOPE: UNC Students Hold Up American Flag Ripped Down By Pro-Palestine Agitators

As for the guys themselves, they say they were just doing what any America-loving patriot would do under the same circumstances.

"For me, protecting the flag was not about taking a stance within the ongoing Israel-Palestine discourse," fraternity member Alex Jones - no, not that Alex Jones -  wrote on X. "I recognize the pain and suffering experienced by both sides of that conflict. But my decision yesterday to protect the flag of the United States was not about any other nation. It was simply about the importance of our country and the values we believe in."

Unfortunately, those values aren't nearly as common as Jones - and the rest of us - might wish. And standing up for them so boldly deserves one heck of a party.
