It seems as though with each day that passes, we receive yet another indication that former White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson might not have been entirely truthful with us during her testimony.

On Tuesday, Mollie Hemingway and Tristan Justice of The Federalist published a series of private messages reportedly written by Hutchinson from December 2020 through May 2021. These messages call into question the veracity of Hutchinson’s alleged trauma from the storming of the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, as well as the motives of the former staffer.

In one message sent less than three months after January 6th, Hutchinson said, “I would rather shoot myself dead into the Potomac than see marine one flying around this city without 45 again,” which seems a far cry from Hutchinson’s condemnation of former President Donald Trump this June.

In November, Hutchinson was officially subpoenaed by the January 6th committee, but had still not changed her tune on the former president and the “insurrection.”

“Other than a handful of irrelevant texts, I have literally no documents or anything they’re asking about,” a fellow ex-staffer told Hutchinson.

“Same,” Hutchinson responded.

Hutchinson wrote the same month, “we were [f*****] by Bennie Thompson,” referring to the Democratic congressman from Mississippi who heads the committee.

In a group chat, a friend of Hutchinson’s linked to a tweet from White House colleague Paige Willey that described those who believed Biden won the presidency legitimately as “conspiracy theorist[s]” and “in denial of evidence.”

Hutchinson responded, “When we win again, we’re making her comms director Or press sec.”

Other highlights from The Federalist’s investigation include Hutchinson happily using the phrase “STOP THE STEAL” in December 2020, writing, “Gotta see our PEOPLE,” in reference to Trump supporters gathered in front of the Capitol on January 5th and joking about the “insurrection” on more than one occasion.

Hutchinson even joked about using a photo of Trump speaking to supporters at the White House Ellipse on January 6th as a Zoom background during her deposition with the committee.

Hutchinson also boasted of an alleged interaction during which she jokingly referred to herself as “an insurrectionist”:

Person on sidewalk: your sweatshirt says 45.

Me: yes

Person: like, Trump?

Me: yes

Person: stares

Me: I’m an insurrectionist.

And then I put my headphones in. The end.

This doesn’t exactly sound like someone who, as Hutchinson said in her testimony, “still struggle[s] to work through the emotions” related to the incident.

As recently as May 2022, Hutchinson attacked the January 6th committee when a Politico piece regarding the committee’s targeting of young White House aides was published.

“I wanted to be like … the members LITERALLY told you they’re taking advantage of us … So shut the f*** up and stop tweeting about me … leave me alone … there is no story here,” she reportedly wrote.

When another friend joked that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) had likened Hutchinson to John Dean — the White House Counsel whose testimony is often credited with the downfall of President Richard Nixon — she replied, “It’s honestly nauseating.”

On June 28, however, Hutchinson would share a hug with the politician she was apparently nauseated by just a month prior.

You can’t make this stuff up.
