Despite politicians telling the public that global warming is responsible for terrorism, a new poll shows only 19 percent of those who believe in climate change think it is related to the growth of terrorism.

A new Economist/YouGov poll conducted between Nov. 19-23 found only 19 percent of people who believe in climate change believe it has contributed to the rise of terrorism around the world, while 57 percent believe climate change has no connection to the growth of terrorism.

Only 8 percent of Republicans, 19 percent of Independents, and 25 percent of Democrats polled responded they believe climate change is connected to an increase in terrorism.

At the same time, 77 percent of Republicans, 56 percent of Independents, and 46 percent of Democrats stated that there is no relationship between climate change and terrorism.

The Economist/YouGov poll surveyed 2,000 American adults through Web-based interviews. The poll has a margin of error of ±3.1.
