On Wednesday, drag queens took over the Oregon House floor in what can only be described as taxpayer-funded drag theater.
Footage shows performers lip-syncing while lawmakers looked on—some awkwardly bobbing along like they were at a middle school talent show, others filming like they’d scored VIP seats at Coachella.
In a stunning display of what Rep. Dwayne Yunker called “political theater,” the performance was part of a Democrat-backed resolution titled: “Recognizing and honoring the history of Black drag in Oregon.”
He called it out for what it was:
This was the Oregon House floor this morning used to celebrate Black Drag Queens.

I’m not sure the Founding Fathers envisioned taxpayer-funded legislative chambers being turned into platforms for political theater. The House floor is meant for serious debate, lawmaking, and… pic.twitter.com/FrwjaRqPw0
Meanwhile, Oregon won’t fix their exploding homeless population or keep the streets overdose-free, but the left will roll out the red carpet for drag performers in their legislative chamber.
If this is what the future of state politics looks like, democracy isn’t just dying; it’s being smothered in sequins, fake lashes, and bad choreography.
At this point, the only thing being dragged is Oregon’s reputation.
