On July 4, anti-ICE protestors in Alvaredo, Texas charged ICE agents and a police officer at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas. One suspect sprayed 20 to 30 rounds at two federal agents, while a police officer was hit in the neck with a bullet.
Not surprisingly, some of the arrested attackers have criminal records and include an extensive history of activism, according to Fox News.
The suspects had staged the attack by luring officers and agents outside with graffiti that read “Ice pig,” and “traitor” along with setting off fireworks. They then opened fire, according to the New York Post. The 11 suspects are each facing three counts of attempted murder and three counts of firearm offenses consisting of crimes of violence.
It's been well documented that anti-ICE protests across the United States have been consistently violent and have involved many known criminals. But what the liberal media probably won’t mention is that some of those arrested in Texas have had past criminal history directly related to protests.
One of the members, Ines Soto, resisted arrest and detention at a protest in 2016 and was released on a $10,000 bond, according to K-Hou 11.
KERA News reported that Savanna Batten was arrested in 2011 for blocking people from entering and leaving a bank during an “Occupy Dallas” protest. The criminal trespassing charge was eventually dismissed in favor of 24 hours of community service. Batten was also arrested for anti-ICE activism in 2018 near a Dallas ICE facility.
The most notable member of the batch would be Benjamin Song, a former U.S. Marine Corps reservist who was arrested in 2020 for assaulting a public servant during a protest in Austin, Texas, and was charged with two felonies, according to Fox 4. He then started a GoFundMe, which mentions he is a proud member of the "Black Lives Matter" group "We Take the Streets."
Song, a Japanese-Korean from Hong Kong, was also named in a 2023 lawsuit as part of the leftist Antifa group called the Elm Fork John Brown Gun Club, which claims that Song is a member of the Socialist Rifle Association. He has also tagged the group in several social media posts over the years.
Interestingly, Song was also using his mom’s martial arts studio to film tactical exercises and self-defense training prior to the attempted murder charges in Texas, Fox News reported.
Song carries an extremely vocal presence on social media, and in June of 2022 posted, “Do you want to end mass shootings? Abolish the police.”
Song also posted that “ACAB (All cops are bastards) because they are class traitors and white supremacist, btw. Cops were created by the upper class for the upper class. They protect property and keep the poor in line. They have no other purpose.”
Following this disturbing trend, DHS has reported an 830% increase in violent assaults against ICE agents as the Trump administration ramps up its efforts to deport illegal aliens, many of them having been convicted of crimes inside the United States.
