The kids aren't okay. In fact, in blue cities controlled by rabid leftists and littered with "progressive" policies, they're really, really not.

Case in point: a 12-year-old was arrested in Washington, D.C. this week for armed carjacking after reportedly trying to force a woman out of her vehicle at gunpoint.

Did I mention he's 12? That's 7th grade, y'all.

The woman told local reporters she simply parked her car around 1 p.m. near a local eatery and un-clicked her seatbelt when the kid showed up and demanded she get out of the car. According to the victim, the child appeared to have something tucked into his waistband that looked like a gun. When she refused to hand over the keys to the vehicle, he took off. Police were able to find and arrest him a short while later, and confirmed that he did, in fact, have a firearm (which I was given to believe was a big no-no in gun-free D.C.). He's since been charged with armed carjacking and carrying a pistol without a license.

The epidemic of carjackings in D.C. and the surrounding counties has skyrocketed in recent years, rising from just around 200 in 2018 to more than 1,000 in 2022, with the majority of those taking place in D.C. proper and Prince George's County. Violent crime in the city is also on the rise, up 28 percent from last year as of the end of June. Juvenile arrests have shot up 20%, with police arresting two other 12-year-olds earlier this year in separate crime sprees including armed carjacking. It's not clear whether the juvenile arrested this week was involved in any of the previously reported incidents.

The only thing that seems to be for sure is that the youth in America's cities are spiraling the drain alongside everyone else, and the leftists who supposedly care so much haven't seemed to notice.
