There aren’t very many of them — as a matter of fact this guy might be the only one left among the establishment news outlets — but the Associated Press’ Matt Lee once again did his job as a journalist and held our government officials accountable for the statement they and the Biden regime make.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Lee confronted and asked Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council (NSC) John Kirby about claims that the Russian army is on NATO’s [North Atlantic Treaty Organization] doorstep in Europe.

“The reason that the Russian army is on, the Russian army is at NATO’s doorstep is because NATO has expanded, rather than the Russians expanding?” Lee asked Kirby. “That, in other words, NATO has moved closer to Russian, rather than Russia moving closer to NATO. Is that not an accurate way to look at this?”

“I think that’s the way President Putin probably looks at it,” Kirby snidely retorted. “Certainly not the way that we look at it.”

While Kirby admitted that NATO has expanded eastward, his excuse to Lee for NATO’s aggression was that Russia invaded Ukraine, to which Lee thought was a non-answer considering Ukraine isn’t a NATO member.

“I’m pretty sure it wasn’t NATO who was ordering upwards of 15 battalion tactical groups within 10 kilometers of the border with Ukraine,” Kirby confidently said. “And I’m pretty sure NATO who put little green men inside Ukraine to destabilize eastern cities.”

Lee was having none of it.

“Well, I’m pretty sure that Ukraine is not a member of NATO,” Lee responded. “So, unless that’s changed…”

Kirby confirmed Lee’s assertion.

Lee and Kirby continued their back and forth for another minute, because Kirby wouldn’t just concede that Lee’s point was valid simply because it didn’t house regime talking points.
