Being the youngest son in a large family can be tough.

Hand-me-downs, constantly getting picked on by your older brothers, the list goes on and on.

But in Argentina, it can be downright dangerous.

Argentinian folklore holds that the seventh born son in a family will morph into “el lobison,” a werewolf like creature with a thirst for unbaptized babies.

Hard to believe? Well it’s no laughing matter, and Argentinians take it seriously.

So seriously, that in 1907 the president of Argentina began adopting these boys to curb this superstition.

This year, President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner just adopted a young Jewish boy as her godson to curb these fears (previously only Catholics could be adopted).

It seems President Kirchner was just sending a friendly reminder not to believe everything you hear.

And if you’re the seventh son in a family and think you have it tough, just be happy you live anywhere but Argentina.
