When local Democrat leaders won’t stand up and defend their own people, the people will.

Or at least, that appears to be what’s happening in Minneapolis, a city roiled by unrest for several nights following the police-involved shooting death of Brooklyn Center man Daunte Wright, and amid the high-profile trial of former police officer Derek Chauvin, who stands accused of murdering Minneapolis resident George Floyd.

Photos from Monday and Tuesday nights’ violence shows armed citizens standing guard outside stores and local businesses to defend them from would-be looters and thugs who’ve decided demands for social justice can only be accomplished by breaking into shops and stealing things.

Townhall’s Julio Rosas posted pictures from the scene showing multiple armed black men defending Brooklyn Center businesses during the chaos. Some store windows had been covered with plywood signs scrawled with messages letting passersby know that the store was open to customers – but clearly not to looters.

Other stores that weren’t so defended, like this Dollar Tree, were smashed in and ransacked by dozens of rioters taking advantage of the pandemonium and limited police intervention.
