Asinine! ESPN’s Adande Says Voter ID No Better Than China’s Human Rights Violations

This being an election year, an “E”specially “S”tupid “P”olitical “N”etwork (ESPN) panelist on the “Around the Horn” program made a disturbing contribution to America’s deepening political divide. J.A. Adande, on Friday’s episode, compared Chinese genocide to U.S. voter requirements to show identification in order to vote and also attacked police officers. Talk about an insult to Uyghur slaves and the oppressed people of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong by trivializing their nightmarish existence under communist dictators.

“Around the Horn” host Tony Reali prompted panelists to comment on Beijing hosting the Winter Olympics amid Chinese Communist Party genocide against its Uyghur Muslim population. With a straight face, the nitwit sensationalist Adande insulted the intelligence of his viewers and the aforementioned victims of China. He stated:

"I think it's standard in sports right now you have to have a cognitive dissonance. You need to compartmentalize.”

China’s commie leaders could not have done a better job of deflecting attention from their crimes against humanity. Adande went on to bloviate:

"And who are we to criticize China's human rights records when we have ongoing attacks by the agents of the state against unarmed citizens and we've got assaults on the voting rights of our people of color in various states in this country. So sports, I think, it is possible and it's necessary more than ever to just shut everything out if you are to enjoy the actual games themselves.”

No matter how you slice that, Adande is calling the U.S. evil while giving real evil in China a pass. Riali gained equal footing on the stupidity slopes with Adande by saying he “appreciates” that inexcusable analogy.

Adande headed deeper into the moral abyss, ignoring the millions of immigrants who flocked to the USA for freedom.:

"Well, again, where can you choose that's free? And look at some of the other recent hosts of the games including Russia and some other recent places. It's very hard to find a country that isn't problematic when it comes to human rights, including here."

In other words, American requirements to show IDs to vote are the moral equivalent of China and its horrendous human rights violations. American police forces are no better than the Chinese thugs raping and enslaving Uyghurs.

Adande hinted that we can "bring attention” to China’s horrors. That’s been done repeatedly, often falling on deaf ears. Meanwhile, he couldn’t insult the Uyghurs any more with this comment.:

“I think its notable that we did have a Uyghur participant lighting the torch and hopefully this will be used to bring attention to it rather than to continue to place these issues [inaudible].”

To make matters worse, Adande is not some dumb ex-jock who doesn’t pay attention to the news. He is the director of sports journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, if you can believe that. This is what passes for leadership and academic training for the media of tomorrow. Woke, stupid, partisan hacks at Northwestern and other state universities are passing their drivel on down to the next generation of writers and broadcasters.

Clay Travis, of Outkick sports blog and the “Clay Travis & Buck Sexton” radio program, said this latest chapter in ESPN idiocy is "a sign of how little actual knowledge from the outside of left-wing politics exists in the ESPN infrastructure that no one in the entire organization thought 'Oh, man, this is an awful analogy that we're making here. This is an embarrassment to the network and it's an insult to everyone in the American public for us to be spreading the exact propaganda that China wants to be spread.' It's an outrage.’"

On the other hand, it's predictable. Because ESPN's parent company, Disney, has deep ties to China and lacks the courage to speak truth to the dictatorship’s crusade against free speech and freedom of conscience.
