At just 25 years old, Douglas John Kantor lost his life to a shooter in the streets of Austin, Texas last weekend after gunmen opened fire, randomly hitting more than a dozen people and ultimately leaving Kantor dead from his injuries.

And now, his brother is speaking out.

In a Facebook post taking aim at those he feels are responsible for his brother’s death, Nick Kantor pointed the finger at the “Defund the Police” movement as part of why his brother died in such a senseless act of violence over the weekend.

"Doug's murder was a result of 2 cowards who didn't have the balls to put their fists up nor the skill with a firearm to hit each other(illegal firearm) as well as a lack of resources available to police to properly patrol/take preventative measures to prevent this Tragedy," Nick wrote. "The lack of resources is due to funding cut by the DEFUND THE POLICE movement put in place by the current administration. I would like this to be known because that same political party/administration will more than likely try to spin this into a gun control issue instead of what it really was which was a lack of resources for the police to do their job and save my brother's life."

Kantor said his brother died from injuries he sustained after being shot in the abdomen 36 hours earlier. At only 25, Douglas Kantor had recently bought a home and was set to marry his high school sweetheart, according to his grieving family.

Police have arrested one juvenile in the case, while another suspect is still at large. Nearly a dozen more victims are currently being treated at a local hospital.

The city of Austin voted last year to strip $150 million from their city’s police department following an outcry from social justice groups, who held protests in dozens of Democrat-controlled cities decrying cops as racists and demanding they be stripped of their funding and, in many cases, dismantled altogether.
