From claiming his son died overseas (he didn't) to saying he'd spoken to a guy who died a year before he was born (yeah, that didn't happen either), President Joe Biden had more than a few cognitive fumbles during his campaign stopovers in Florida Tuesday, where his efforts to stump for Democrat gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist ended up being an avalanche of soundbites highlighting his own mental lapses.
Here are some of the most bizarre moments from Biden’s remarks – and if you’re drinking anything, I’d caution you to put it down...and maybe try to forget that this guy is supposedly the leader of the free world with access to nukes.
Here we go.
When he claimed his own son, Beau, died in Iraq.
“Inflation is a worldwide problem right now because of a war in Iraq... Excuse me the war in Ukraine. I'm thinking of Iraq because that's where my son died."
While he was an Army veteran who served in Iraq, Beau ultimately died of cancer…in Bethesda.
Maryland.

When Biden channeled his inner southerner…and it was bad.
“The senator from Florida going after social security? I'll tell ya what, as they say in southern, 'I don't know where y'all have been. Hot damn boy.'"
Having grown up in the South as the descendents of good folk from both Georgia and Mississippi…no. No, they really don’t say that.

When he redefined “inflation.”
"That's what I call inflation. The end of the month, what you have left. You have no money. That's inflation. What's, what do you, the things you need. Are they going up? They are. They are."
Some economists might beg to differ.

When he claimed to have met the man who invented insulin.
Over here in Reality-ville, insulin, a hormone, was discovered – not invented – by Sir Frederick G Banting. He died in 1941.
Biden, on the other hand, was born in 1942.

When he claimed wages have increased faster than inflation, which he also claimed is down.
"Although it may not feel that way, people's incomes went up the last quarter more than inflation. Economic growth is up, price inflation is down, real incomes are up, and gas prices are down."
Fact check: it doesn’t feel that way…because it’s false.

When he said Debbie Wasserman Schultz was his BFF in the Senate.
"I don't have a greater friend in the United States Senate."
Yeah, DWS is a congresswoman. Not a senator.

When Biden said he attended Delaware State University.
Delaware State University is a historically black college. Biden? Not black. Oh, and by the by, he actually went to the University of Delaware.
While campaigning for @CharlieCrist in Miami-Dade County, @JoeBiden claims that he went to college at a HBCU (Historically Black institution) Delaware State University.
