It turns out Californians aren’t the only ones fleeing their socialist utopias for the greener pastures of freer red states. According to recently released data, New Yorkers fled their own leftist hellhole for Florida in record droves in 2022.

A new high of 64,577 New Yorkers swapped their New York residencies for Florida ones last year, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, nearly 4,000 more than the 61,728 who switched in 2021. According to the New York Post, that’s a 46% increase from just half a decade ago in 2017.

One DMV employee even told the Post that so many disgruntled New Yorkers have shown up to get a new Florida license, he feels like a therapist having to listen to all their reasons why they moved.

And it looks like the Empire State isn't the only blue area hemorrhaging people who're sick of high taxes, draconian laws, high crime, and overpaid bureaucrats. A record-high 30,168 Californians also swapped their Golden State licenses for Sunshine ones in 2022, up from about 27,000 in 2021 and nearly double the 15,199 who moved to Florida in 2017. In fact, as MRCTV reported just a few weeks ago, data from U-Haul shows California ranking No. 1 in the country for one-way outbound truck rentals in 2022, with 343,230 more Americans having moved out of California compared to those who moved into it.

Welcome to freedom, guys. I’m sure Florida’s happy to have your business - just don’t bring your crappy politics with it.
