Black Lives Mattered...when it was politically expedient to scream so, of course. Today? Democrats have decided money matters more.

A “Black Lives Matter” mural that was painted to the tune of thousands of taxpayer dollars across a street in Washington, D.C. will soon be painted over, as it has outlived its usefulness as a political prop.

According to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, who touted the mural’s installment in June of 2020 as a major accomplishment for her office, the three-block-long, yellow-lettered message will be removed ahead of the 250th anniversary of America, which the nation will celebrate in 2026. Bowser is blaming the move on a new bill that has been introduced in the U.S. House that would mandate the city rename “Black Lives Matter Plaza” - which was renamed in 2020 during the BLM riots - to “Liberty Plaza,” or risk losing their federal funding.

In a speech earlier this week, Bowser said the city has "bigger fish to fry than fights over what has been very important to us and to their history."

"The mural inspired millions of people and helped our city through a painful period, but now we can't afford to be distracted by meaningless congressional interference," Bowser's statement said. "The devastating impacts of the federal job cuts must be our number one concern.”

Translation: BLM doesn’t serve me a purpose any longer, and I don’t want to get blasted for spending gobs of cash fighting the federal government for it.

Bowser's announcement comes after BLM was caught at the center of numerous scandals since its inception in 2020 following the death of George Floyd. Patrisse Cullors, one of the group's founders, was found to have used millions of dollars' worth of donations to bankroll several muti-million-dollar properties for her own use. Other local BLM chapter leaders and activists were caught using donations to fund their own lavish lifestyles, including Sir Maejor Page, who was sentenced to 42 months in prison for wire fraud and money laundering after spending nearly half a million dollars on luxury items. The group also came under fire for its leaders openly expressing Marxist messaging and justifying their followers looting stores and burning buildings as "reparations."

Of course, race-baiting activists aren’t happy about seeing their Marxist artwork destroyed. Becky Pringle, the President of the National Education Association, said that "Black Lives Matter Plaza sends a message to students all across the country — that they have a place, that they are seen, that they have resources to live into their brilliance.”

Whatever that is supposed to mean.
