Blatantly Unconstitutional Cali Law Banning Concealed Carry Goes Into Effect

“Shall not be infringed.” Four words. Direct. Pretty simple concept. Just, apparently not to the communists over in California.

Chalk one up to the government-funded education system, I suppose.

Apparently, the simple notion that you can’t deny law-abiding citizens of their right to keep and bear arms for self-defense is lost on Governor Gavin Newsom and California Democrats, who passed a law in 2023 banning Americans from carrying legally owned firearms in more than two dozen public places - even if those residents have legal concealed carry licenses.

Which, thanks to the U.S. Constitution, should be unnecessary in the first place.

Now, the law is in effect as of January 1, even as gun rights advocates fight the clearly unconstitutional ban in court. A U.S. district judge had issued a ruling Dec. 20 to block the law from taking effect, but that decision was overturned on Saturday by a federal appeals court who put a temporary hold on the block.

Lawyers on both sides of the issue are set to file their arguments in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in January and February.

The law, signed by Newsom in September, bans people from carrying concealed weapons in 26 “sensitive” public places including public parks and playgrounds, hospitals, churches, banks, libraries, sporting events, and even zoos - so pretty much anywhere one might find themselves facing a threat, and turning just about every highly populated space into a soft target for criminals who don’t give a crap about the law.

All of this comes, you'll recall, from the same brilliant minds that upped the limit for felony larceny and limited the prosecution of criminals, only to feign shock when looters and thieves began smashing in store windows and making off with armfuls of stolen stuff.

But ever the shill for rampant crime, Newsom had called the original court ruling staying the gun ban from going into effect “repugnant,” saying that it “greenlights the proliferation of guns in our hospitals, libraries, and children’s playgrounds — spaces which should be safe for all.”

Except, you know, from evil people intent on doing harm, who now know that law-abiding residents in these spaces won’t be carrying guns to defend themselves against, say, a mentally unhinged shooter who decides to light up a playground.

Congratulations, libs. Why don’t you go ahead and paint some targets on the monkey bars while you’re at it? Not that mass murders are worrying about their aim when they’re indiscriminately mowing down defenseless people.
