At best, the surrogacy industry exploits women, treats children like commodities to be bought and sold, and deliberately interrupts the natural process of a biological mother conceiving, growing, birthing, and nurturing her baby.
At worst, it leads to horrors like this.
A veterinarian and popular dog show judge in Chicago has been arrested on child pornography charges after he admitted to undercover investigators he planned to sexually abuse the baby boy he and his partner were purchasing from a surrogate carrier.
Adam Stafford King, a veterinary ophthalmologist from Elburn, Illinois, was also found in possession of multiple images of underage children being sexually abused by adults, including several that he sent to undercover agents posing as pedophiles on the internet. He also told them that he prefers children under the age of 10, specifically boys.
In addition, he reportedly admitted to police he had sexually abused his nieces and nephews after drugging them with Benadryl, saying he preferred the drug because it has a "wide safety margin," and is "easy," as "it generally takes 30-45 min[utes]," and "I usually double an adult dose."

King, who also breeds dogs and travels the country as a judge at dog shows, had boasted online that he and his male partner were expecting a child via surrogate, and had posted ultrasound images as well as pictures of baby outfits he'd bought. But in online pedo chat rooms, he reportedly told undercover agents he planned to rape the newborn after bringing him home, and even planned on bringing "a friend" to join in.
"I do love the idea of inviting a buddy over when I have my boy…just has to be someone I can trust obviously," King wrote in a message, according to the charges.
The FBI executed a search warrant at King's home on Friday and found more images of child pornography on his computer. King was arrested just a few days before he and his partner were scheduled to fly out to California to meet the surrogate for the birth of the baby, expected sometime this week.
