Having landed itself $20 million in debt despite taking in more than $1 billion in donations, the Democrat National Committee resorted to a GoFundMe to pay Kamala Harris’ campaign staffers after literally running out of money thanks to pricey purchases, first-class travel, and payments for events with celebrities.

Which, as it turns out, did a fat lot of good getting her elected.

According to this, the Harris campaign blew through $1.5 billion during her two-month run for the Oval Office following Joe Biden’s forced drop-out in August (for comparison, the Trump camp raised $382 million during the same timeframe). That mind-boggling total included $15 million for “event production,” another $4 million in private jets, and $1 million paid in two separate installments to Oprah Winfrey’s company. Another $900,000 went to pay for an ad on the big screen in Las Vegas (Harris ended up losing Nevada) and another $10 million went to fund a series of videos aimed at Gen X with celebs like Bon Jovi (Harris ended up losing Gen X, too).

According to Fox News, the union representing DNC employees has launched a GoFundMe to raise money for staffers who were laid off last week thanks to the now-empty coffers, seeking $25,000 to help now-unemployed workers following the embarrassing election loss.

“We are heartbroken to see our colleagues—who dedicated countless hours to electing Democrats up and down the ballot—depart under these circumstances, and we are furious with DNC leadership for failing to provide severance to those affected,” the GoFundMe reads.

The DNC Staff Union continues that the money raised “will directly aid staff members, including single parents and workers expecting children, impacted by the recent layoffs.”

So far, the fundraiser has scraped together just under $18,000

Hey, maybe Kamala can ask Oprah to help out. After all, they both grew up “working class kids” who know what it’s like to need a few bucks and be without one.

Or, at least, that’s what we were told back when millionaire celebs were trying to convince everyone to vote for Harris.
