A former UFC fighter has been convicted and sentenced to five years in prison after he reportedly chased down and shot at the man who will soon stand trial for molesting his son.

Cain Velásquez, 42, had pled “no contest” to charges of attempted murder, assault, and weapons violations stemming from the February 28, 2022 incident, during which police say he pursued and repeatedly shot at a vehicle carrying Harry Goularte, a man who had allegedly molested Velásquez’s four-year-old son at a daycare owned by the man’s mother.

Which, I’m definitely not saying is what any loving father should do to the pedophile who assaults their preschool child.

Goularte’s stepfather was also in the vehicle at the time, and was non-fatally shot in the arm and the torso.

Velásquez, who had initially pled “not guilty” to the charges, was convicted last year, and on Monday was sentenced to half a decade behind bars. Three of those will count as time already served.

The District Attorney had asked for 30 years to life.

Velásquez become a household name in the UFC world in 2010 after he became the undisputed UFC heavyweight championship following his victory against Brock Lesnar. He continued fighting until injuries forced him to retire in 2019.

Goularte is still facing felony child molestation charges and is currently walking freely with GPS monitoring. He will appear back in court in June. The Velásquez family is also suing Goularte, his family, and the daycare they own in civil court.
