With videos like these popping up on a near-daily basis, it's a wonder there are any jewelry stores left in California at all.

Or stores in general, frankly.

Not-so-shocking footage of yet another Golden State robbery shows the harrowing moment more than a dozen masked thieves forcibly busted into a jewelry store in Sunnyvale, in the broad daylight no less.

Police responded to calls around 1:30 p.m last Wednesday that a band of robbers were looting PNG Jewelers USA, located in the Bay Area. The cops' report confirmed what the surveillance video shows: roughly 20 people dressed in black with hoods and masks using hammers and crowbars to bust through the store's glass door before ransacking the shop and making off with stolen loot. Here was the scene:

Police were able to locate two of the suspects' vehicles, though both fled. One got away, while the cops were able to track the other, later reporting the criminals tossed the jewelry from the car as they sped away. Police were able to apprehend five suspects after they abandoned their car and fled on foot across a freeway.

Police have yet to make any other arrests in the case, and haven't recovered all the stolen jewelry. They're also investigating whether this robbery has any connection to another Sunnyvale smash-and-grab back in May.

While it's terribly unfortunate for the owners of this jewelry store that their shop was looted and destroyed by thugs, it's hardly a surprise in a state that slaps criminals on the wrist and penalizes law-abiding citizens who dare to fight back. Last April, stunning footage out of Oakland, California showed eight armed thugs busting into a family-owned jewelry store and smashing in all the display cases before making off with nearly every single piece in the store, as the 69-year-old store owner screamed and ran for her life.
