Last September, news broke that award-winning singer Lana Del Rey had gotten hitched to a 49-year-old Louisiana swamp tour guide and boat captain named Jeffrey Dufrene - which, to put it lightly, wasn’t exactly what anybody was expecting.
But while most other Hollywood celebs are busy shacking up with other star-studded famous faces in marriages that often struggle to last the year, much less the lifetime, Del Rey recently opened up about why she waited so long for something different, crediting producer Jack Antonoff and his longtime marriage to his wife for inspiring her to hold out for the real deal - even if it was with someone who didn’t fit the typical bill for an acclaimed music artist.
“I’m grateful for [Antonoff] for the example he gave me in his marriage to [Margaret Qualley],” Del Rey said, speaking at Variety’s eighth-annual Hitmakers event where Antonoff was presented with the Producer of the Decade award.
“I saw the way he looked at her when he met her, and he’s a big reason why I waited so long to get married, and why I met my amazing husband,” she went on. “And I really feel like there’s kind of a singer’s curse around like, meeting an honest partner who has no skin in the game, no dog in the race. And it’s super nerve-racking to sort of hold on to an innocent perception of how things could go when you’re in an industry where maybe your values and your morals don’t quite match up with what’s going on - especially when people think you probably don’t have any morals or values.”

Not much is publicly known about the historically private singer’s marriage, though it appears they’d been dating since at least 2019, after Del Rey took one of Dufrene’s boat tours. The pair married in a low-key ceremony in September.

Since then, leftists on social media have blasted Del Rey after finding posts from her now-husband criticizing mask mandates and shutdowns during the COVID pandemic and disagreeing with men being allowed to use women’s restrooms, giving a pretty distinct clue as to his political leanings.
