While the media are busy stumping for abortionists, who in turn are busy mailing infanticide pills to women in red states looking to get around laws that protect unborn children from being poisoned and dismembered, a new study has emerged showing just how dangerous those miscarriage-inducing meds really are - not only to the baby, but to the mother as well.
Not, of course, that money-hungry leftists really care.
After reviewing insurance data for patients prescribed mifepristone for elective abortions between 2017 and 2023, the Ethics and Public Policy Center found that a shocking one in 10 women who took the abortion-inducing drugs experienced some kind of serious medical complication within the first 45 days of ingesting the medication.
According to the EPPC, “10.93 percent of women experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious adverse event within 45 days following a mifepristone abortion” based on reports filed with insurance companies expected to cover the cost of the medical care.
The EPPC says their analysis is the “largest-known study of the abortion pill is based on analysis of data from an all-payer insurance claims database that includes 865,727 prescribed mifepristone abortions from 2017 to 2023,” reporting that the data shows abortion pills are far riskier than the drug companies claim based on their own clinical trials, which claims an adverse effects risk of “less than 0.5 percent.”
The EPPC added that their study pulls from data no older than 2017, while the FDA’s approval of mifepristone relies entirely on data collected more than a decade ago.
Of those nearly 866,000 women, the insurance data shows 24,563 had to undergo a surgical abortion after the abortion drugs failed to expel all or some of the unborn child from the mother’s womb. Nearly 41,000 had to go to the ER for abortion-related issues, while 28,658 experienced hemorrhaging. Nearly 12,000 ended up with some kind of infection, with 824 reported cases of sepsis, a life-threatening infection in the blood. More than 3,000 were treated for an ectopic pregnancy, which wouldn’t have been found by an abortionist prescribing abortion pills without first doing an ultrasound or exam.
Nearly 50,000 were treated for “other abortion-specific complications.”

Women seeking medication abortions - which the left has long championed as "safe" - are often prescribed a combination of mifepristone, which aims to kill the unborn child in utero, followed by misoprostol, a drug that induces uterine contractions and expels the presumed-dead child by forcing a miscarriage. Women often given the two-drug regimen without first being examined or given an ultrasound to determine that they are, in fact, early enough in their pregnancy for the pills to work, and without screening them for conditions (like ectopic pregnancy, for example) that put them at a higher risk for complications. A mother is typically given the first pill to take in the abortion clinic, then told to take the second a day later at home, leaving her to miscarry her child alone, oftentimes on the toilet.
Despite the clear and well-documented risks of taking abortion pills, particularly alone and at home, abortionists have continued to prescribe women mifepristone by the thousands every day. As Republican-controlled states aim to pass laws protecting unborn children from being slaughtered in the womb, the abortion industry has begun ramping up efforts to get the abortion-inducing drugs to women in red states by offering them Telehealth appointments - meaning no physical exam is conducted - and mailing them abortion pills to administer to themselves.
The “party of women” - so long as those women are willing to cough up their dollars.
