Democrats have gotten awfully good at ignoring the rampant crime plaguing their own cities. But they might not be able to turn a blind eye to this one.
Turns out Secret Service agents assigned to President Joe Biden’s granddaughter responded to an attempted carjacking in Washington, D.C. over the weekend, even opening fire on the criminals in the process. According to reports, as many as three people attempted to break into an unoccupied Secret Service vehicle parked in D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood at around 11:58 p.m. on Sunday. The Associated Press reports agents were with 29-year-old Naomi Biden during the incident, and that one agent discharged his weapon. No one was shot, and police are now investigating the incident.
Carjackings in D.C. have hit a fever pitch in recent years, with more being reported in 2023 than in any other year in memory. Back in October, Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar was carjacked by armed criminals, marking the 754th carjacking so far this year - a number that’s only continued to rise. In late October, a 13-year-old carjacker was shot and killed by an off-duty federal officer in D.C. after the kid tried to steal the man’s car while purporting to hold a gun. Just two days prior, a 15-year-old girl was arrested in D.C after a carjacking that ended in a fatal crash that left another teenage girl dead.
Also this morning, DC Police are still searching for a man accused of carjacking a federal government vehicle in northeast D.C. In an unrelated incident, three boys - ages 12 to 15 - were arrested over the weekend for assaulting and carjacking a ride-hail driver in the city.
To make matters even more disturbing, NBC News reports that about 75% of carjackers are armed in the supposedly gun-free district, only about 15% are ever caught.
Welcome to blue D.C. - where no one's armed but the criminals, and even presidents' grandkids aren't immune.
