One gender-confused man is finding out the hard way that bragging about shoving your trans-ism in people’s faces on the internet can have some spectacular consequences. And by “spectacular,” I mean, spectacularly hilarious. For the rest of us, at least.
Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles reached out to James Rose and informed him they’d be revoking his driver’s license and issuing a correction after Rose, a man who cosplays as a woman, posted a video to TikTok bragging that he’d managed to change the gender designation on his Florida state license from male to female.
"I just got my gender changed on my driver’s license in the free f***ing state of Florida," Rose exclaimed. "My god, Ron DeSantis would be screaming right now if he knew about this. This little license now says female on it."

The FLHSMV responded by sending him a letter thanking him for bringing attention to this error and promise action to address it.

Florida law mandates a person’s state-issued driver’s license must reflect their biological sex at birth, and can’t be changed to whatever “gender identity” they’ve decided to adopt since.
“This is not easy. You’re not even supposed to be able to do this in this state. Here’s the loophole, here’s the loophole. Listen up,” a borderline hysterical Rose went on in his video. “If you’re replacing your driver’s license, not renewing it but replacing it because you ‘lost it,’ they have to take all of your information from what they consider a ‘primary document.’ A passport is considered a primary document, and you can self-identify on your passport which means, loophole, you can self-identify on your Florida f***ing driver’s license.”
Rose’s video went viral online and was picked up by multiple accounts with large followings, including LibsofTikTok over on X. After catching wind of the situation, the Florida DMV sent a letter to Rose informing him that his license was in violation of state law and would be revoked.

"Please be advised that the sex identifier on the replacement Florida driver’s license issued to you on December 20, 2024, was improperly changed from male to female. Accordingly, that license…is invalid and has been canceled," the letter read.
The letter also informed Rose that the department is now investigating him for potentially having broken state law that makes it illegal "knowingly to make a false statement, knowingly conceal a material fact, or otherwise commit a fraud,” pointing to Rose’s use of the quotes around the word “lost” and suggesting he may have put in for a replacement license without having lost the original one at all.
