In its first 24 hours, a GoFundMe for Hurricane Helene victims launched by former President Donald Trump has already more than doubled its goal of $1 million dollars to help those who’ve lost everything in the wake of one of the deadliest and most destructive storms in memory.
With so many across the Southeastern U.S. facing challenges after the storm, President Trump is on the ground in communities to see the aftermath firsthand,” the GoFundMe description states, adding, “All donations will be directed to help those most affected by Hurricane Helene. Any level of generosity will go a long way for your fellow Americans who are suffering.
So far, the fund has raked in $2.1 million, far exceeding its original benchmark, with donations still pouring in by the second.
Trump visited displaced and devastated victims in Valdosta, Georgia on Monday.

"As you know, our country is in the final weeks of a hard-fought national election. But in a time like this, when a crisis hits, when our fellow citizens cry out in need, none of that matters,” Trump said at the time. “We’re not talking about politics now. We have to all get together and get this solved. We need a lot of help. They have to have a lot of help down here.”
At the same time, Trump blasted the Biden/Harris administration for what he says has been a lack of serious response to the devastation. Meanwhile, Tesla and SpaceX CEDO Elon Musk said in a post on X that he has been in communication with Trump to provide Starlink Internet capability to parts of rural North Carolina where cell service remains down, leaving thousands stranded and unaccounted for.
Since the Hurricane Helene disaster, SpaceX has sent as many Starlink terminals as possible to help areas in need.

Earlier today, @realDonaldTrump alerted me to additional people who need Starlink Internet in North Carolina. We are sending them terminals right away.
Biden, for his part, has said that he’s authorized aid for affected areas, where more than 120 people have already been confirmed dead and material damage is estimated to total at least $160 billion across the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Virginia. Neither the president nor Vice President Kamala Harris have yet visited the area in person.
