California just launched a one-stop shop for all your abortion needs…except the truth.
Governor Gavin Newsom’s latest attempt to provide abortions includes his facilitation of a new website, abortion.ca.gov. Rather than create a site to foster life and promote its value, the state government-run site aims to inform people how and where to end life.
Newsom launched the website on Tuesday, September 13, the same day GOP Senator Lindsey Graham proposed a national 15-week abortion ban. Newsom claimed the site was created to fight back against Graham’s “agenda” of “controlling women," and boastfully tweeted out a PSA regarding the website launch.
Make no mistake--Lindsey Graham’s new national ban on abortion is about controlling women. That’s their agenda.— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) September 13, 2022
CA’s fighting back.
Today, we’re launching a NEW website to provide resources for women to get reproductive care -- no matter where they live. pic.twitter.com/O7scuoJ32N
The site will supposedly provide “people both inside and outside of California with information about abortions, their legal rights, where to find providers, how to pay for services and financial assistance, ways to locate wellness and emotional support, and more” according to Newsom's statement.
It contains information about abortion providers, California’s abortion laws, and tips on how to pay for abortions. It also includes links for anomaly groups like minors seeking abortions, people living outside California, and undocumented immigrants.
Heres a few notes from the site which showed the overall attitude toward unlimited abortion access in California:
- You can travel to California if you are unable to get the abortion care you need in your state.
- In California, people of any age have the right to independently consent to their own abortion care.
- A pregnancy becomes viable when a doctor determines that the fetus could live outside the uterus without extreme medical measures.
Those seem pretty unrestricted to me.
Newsom released a statement regarding his new abortion site, saying:
Abortion is legal, safe and accessible here in California – whether or not you live here, know that we have your back. As Republican states continue rolling back fundamental civil rights and even try to prevent people from accessing information online or crossing state lines for care, you’re welcome here in California and we’ll continue to fight like hell for you.
I suppose he meant to say that California is committed to “fight like hell” to abort as many babies as possible, because that's what this website and Newsom’s policies do.
On the site, users can also search a city to find a provider near them on a map with pin-pointed locations to direct people to the state's baby-killing mills.
Newsom’s effort doesn’t stop there. Not only does the website encourage viewers that abortion is easy to access in California, but the site intentionally provides vague descriptions of what happens during an abortion.

There’s a tab that’s titled “Types of abortion,” which lists medication abortion and in-clinic procedures as the options.
For the medication abortion, the “How it works” section glamorizes the reality of what happens during this type of pregnancy termination. It doesn’t list any negative risks, but simply states that patients should gain aftercare information from their provider. Newsom's site also directs patients to the Planned Parenthood website.
Speaking of Planned Parenthood, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates California Jodi Hicks was elated at the news — of course! Planned Parenthood can only stay up and running if it kills babies. No wonder she was so happy!
Hicks urged for other states to use Newsom’s website “as a model” to help garner more abortions in their states as well.
It’s disheartening to see how California has become an epicenter of abortions, and how proud Gov. Newsom is of it.
