Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Nominated For a Nobel Peace Prize

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, best known for leading school-walkouts in support of combatting global warming but….well, not much else, has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Because if former President Barack Obama can get one, why can’t a teenage truant?

According to this, two Swedish legislators have nominated the 17-year-old activist for the award, which may as well be shot out of a t-shirt cannon at sporting events for all they’re worth today. The New York Post reports Swedish Left Party members Jens Holm and Hakan Svenneling claim Thunberg, who was also recently named TIME Magazine’s Person Of the Year, “has worked hard to make politicians open their eyes to the climate crisis.”

“Reducing our emissions and complying with the Paris Agreement is therefore also an act of making peace,” the lawmakers explained.

Thunberg has made headlines for encouraging students to skip school and march in the street in protest of what she claims is inaction on the climate crisis by global leaders. I’d list her other accomplishments that elevate her to the level of a Nobel laureate, but there aren’t any.
