There has never been a better time to be a female athlete representing the United States.

Congress just passed a bill late on Wednesday that will guarantee that women’s international teams from the U.S. will receive equal payment and benefits as men, including the Olympics and Paralympics. The bill passed the Senate unanimously and now heads to Clown-in-Chief Joe Biden’s desk for signature.

The legislation impacts more than 50 teams and stems from the Equal Pay lawsuit that the nation’s women’s soccer team got settled in February, which allowed the USWNT to earn $6.5 million of the USMNT’s earnings at this past World Cup.

If you’ve ever wondered what a communist economic system looks like, this whole situation is a perfect representation of it.

A maxim of Marxist economics is “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.” It is a naive approach to ensuring that everyone within a given system has an equal outcome: collect all the resources a group of people earns and spread it out fairly to everyone in that group.

But it’s not a healthy or balanced way of sparking growth and funding for sports teams, because women simply don’t bring in money through athletics the way that men do.

Take U.S. soccer as an example. The viewership numbers for international tournaments and worldwide audience for men’s soccer is far and away bigger than women’s, meaning that the USMNT men will earn more money from doing so-so at the World Cup than the USWNT for winning the title. It is an unequal outcome, but at least the capitalist and marketing approach provides an equal opportunity for everyone to succeed.

Could it be discouraging for women to not get the same adulation or payday as men? Definitely. But that doesn’t mean they're entitled to a bigger payday, especially when they’re product currently can’t compete with the men’s product.

But fortunately for them, our government or sporting communities care about “equality,’ even if that means committing theft against men’s teams through a communist approach. As I said in the beginning, there’s never been a better time to be a female athlete and represent the U.S. on the world stage.
