Filmmaker and Director Oliver Stone told comedian Russell Brand on Sunday that he regretted voting for Joe Biden in 2020, particularly because he feared that his foreign policy would spark largescale bloodshed.
On Brand’s podcast, Stay Free, Stone told Brand, “I voted for him – I made a mistake, I was thinking he was an old man now that he would calm down, that he would be more mellow and so-forth, I didn't see that at all.” Instead, Stone argued, “it seems that he's dragging us stupidly into a confrontation with a power that is not going to give.” “This is a potential World War III,” he concluded.

Stone is not alone in expressing regret over a 2020 presidential selection. After voting for Biden in 2020, Elon Musk has implied doubts about his choice in interviews, telling a CNBC host in May, “I wish we could just have a normal human being as president.” Elon had responded to a tweet in February of a woman holding up a sign which read “Just because I voted for Joe Biden doesn’t mean I’m stupid” by tweeting a disappointed emoji and admitting “I voted for Biden.”
Though she has not expressed direct regret for supporting Biden, rapper Cardi B has complained a great deal about the consequences of Biden’s election. In January, Cardi B tweeted, “grocery shopping prices are ridiculous right now. You might as well eat outside!” With grocery prices “tripling up” Cardi B was left wondering, “what the f*ck is going on?”

These celebrity lamentations seem to be indicative of a larger trend among Biden voters. In September, 2021, a poll emerged which revealed that 20 percent of the 2,173 Biden voters who participated in a survey regretted voting for him. Accentuating matters, the survey was conducted in early August, prior to the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, meaning that it is possible those numbers could have been even higher had the poll been conducted at a later date. Furthermore, the New York Times published a survey in July, 2022 which revealed that 64 percent of the Democrats surveyed wanted a candidate other than Biden to be the nominee for the 2024 election.
Of course, it is one thing to express regret, and another thing entirely to make an act of reparation. If Stone regrets his vote so heavily, perhaps he could make a film dedicated to showcasing his concerns about Biden and his family.
