The cost of gas is falling – but not all red and blue states are equal, if you’re looking to fill up at a service station these days.

Four of the five most expensive states for a gallon of regular gas have Democrat governors, while four of the five least expensive states have Republican governors, according to state averages reported on AAA’s website.

If you look deeper, blue states represent seven of the ten most expensive gasoline markets and red states have eight of the ten cheapest.

“This drop at the pump comes as many travelers gear up to hit the road for spring break and drivers may be surprised to find gas under $3 in 31 states,” AAA notes.
