“This is what happens when you actually enforce the law,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi explained Friday, providing details on the types of arrests made thus far during President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to the city.
“189 arrests in D.C. — and counting,” Bondi reported in a social media post Friday afternoon. Of those 189 arrests, 75 (40%) were made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, the attorney general reported.
Bondi also noted the number of arrests made for four other categories of serious crime:
- Illegal aliens: 75
- Illegal gun offenses: 39
- Drug trafficking: 17
- Homicide: 2
- Sexual predator crimes: 2
“We’re taking back our Nation’s Capital!” Bondi declared. “Together, we will make D.C. Beautiful & Safe Again.”
On Monday, President Trump declared a crime emergency in D.C. issued an executive order deploying the National Guard to address the threat.
