When a reporter told Pres. Joe Biden that “many American people” are concerned about his waning mental capacity, Biden declared that “the press” aren’t.
Thursday evening, at an impromptu press event following release of a special counsel report concluding he is unfit to stand trial for mishandling classified documents, Biden interrupted and shouted down the reporter when she said the public is concerned by what they’ve seen of Biden’s mental state – after he dared them to watch him:
Reporter: “Mr. Biden, for months when you were asked about your age, you responded with the words ‘Watch me.’ (interrupted by Biden)
Pres. Biden: “Watch me.”
Reporter: “Well, many American people have been watching.
“And, they have expressed concerns about your age, state…(interrupted by Biden)”
Pres. Biden: “That is your judgement!”
Reporter: “State…(interrupted by Biden)
Pres. Biden: “That is your judgement! That is not the judgement of the press!”
The reporter followed up by asking Biden why he wouldn’t let another Democrat run in his place, given that he’s already said that there are others in the party who could defeat his frontrunner opponent, Republican Donald Trump.
Again, Biden appeared to cut her off, in order to declare himself “the most qualified person to be president”:
Reporter: “They express concerns about your mental acuity. The say that you’re too old. Mr. President, in December, you told me that you believe there are many other Democrats who could defeat Donald Trump.
“So, why does it have to be you now? What is your answer about”… (interrupted by Biden)
Pres. Biden: “Because I’m the most qualified person to be president of the United States and finish the job I started.”
Indeed, liberal media are continuing to defend Pres. Biden’s mental capacity, even after the damning report and Biden’s multiple mental blunders Thursday night, as NewsBusters explains in its analysis of Friday morning network coverage:
“President Biden embarrassed himself last night during a press conference to defend his mental acuity by mixing up Mexico and Egypt, counties not even on the same continent. But during the Friday morning newscasts of ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Mornings, and NBC’s Today, the liberal media circled the wagons as they tried to ignore, downplay, and make excuses for Biden’s disastrous performance.
“One correspondent even suggested mixing Mexico and Egypt was a common occurrence.”
Nonetheless, many Americans appear to be seeing through the media's efforts, as a recent Rasmussen survey found that 61% of likely voters think “ the news media are helping cover up evidence of President Biden’s declining mental sharpness,“ including nearly half (45%) who say it's “very likely.“
