A Group of House Democrats disrupted Thursday’s censure of Democrat Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) who disrupted President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on Tuesday.
“By its adoption of House Resolution 189, the House has resolved that Representative Al Green be censured, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), as Democrats began their stunt during the proceedings censuring Rep. Al Green (T-Texas) for disrupting the president’s speech, as Fox News explains:
“Before the formal censure could be read out to Green, however, Democrats upended House floor proceedings by gathering with the Texas Democrat and singing ‘We shall overcome.’ Johnson was forced to call the House into a recess after failing multiple times to quell the protest.
“The House floor briefly descended into chaos as a small group of Republicans and Democrats continued confronting each other, with one Republican heard calling Democrats "embarrassing" for their behavior.”
Rep. Andy Ogles quickly posted a social media thread announcing he would be taking action to punish the rogue Democrats:
“Today, a group of House Democrats broke decorum during the censure of Rep. Al Green and, after multiple warnings, refused to heed @SpeakerJohnson's order.
“I am drafting privileged resolutions to remove each of them from their committees. If you want to act like a child in the Halls of Congress, you will be treated like a child.”
Soon afterwards, Rep. Ogles filed the resolution and posted it on his X.com page.
