Since Day One of the Trump Administration, the number of aliens attempting to illegally enter the U.S. via the Southwest border has plummeted, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reported Tuesday in its monthly update.

President Donald Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2025. In the 11 days of January of his Administration, the number of inadmissible aliens trying to enter the U.S. through official CBP ports plunged, compared to previous 11 days of the Biden regime:

“The number of inadmissible aliens encountered by CBP’s Office of Field Operations at ports of entry along the southwest border dropped 93% in the 11 days after Jan. 20 compared with the 11 days prior.”

Compared to the same 11 days in 2024, the number of CBP apprehensions of illegal aliens attempting to enter the U.S. at other parts of the border likewise plummeted:

“From Jan. 21 through Jan. 31, 2025, the number of U.S. Border Patrol apprehensions along the southwest border dropped 85% from the same period in 2024.”

For the entire month of January, the 61,465 illegal alien encounters were down 56% from 96,035 a month earlier in December of 2024 and down 187% from the 176,195 total registered a year earlier in January of 2024.

CBP “encounters” include U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Title 8 Apprehensions, Office of Field Operations (OFO) Title 8 Inadmissibles at official ports, and Title 42 Expulsions for public health reasons.

“The men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection are aggressively implementing the President’s Executive Orders to secure our borders. These actions have already resulted in dramatic improvements in border security,” Acting CBP Commissioner Pete Flores said in a press release regarding January’s numbers.

The release notes that the CBP has been freed from Biden Administration policies that have hindered its ability to do its job:

“CBP is no longer catching and releasing illegal aliens into the U.S. CBP is leveraging legal authorities to take every reasonable step to ensure illegal aliens are placed in detention and expediently removed from the country. In simple terms, illegal aliens are being arrested, detained and then rapidly removed.”

With the number of illegal aliens breaking into the U.S. dwindling since Trump entered the White House, the need for shelters to house them also appears to be declining, as MRCTV's Brittany Hughes reported on Wednesday:

”A migrant shelter in San Diego that had been packed to the hilt with illegal alien border crossers under President Joe Biden is now closing up shop after its recipient totals dropped to zero in just the first few weeks of the Trump administration.

”Read that: zero.

”The Jewish Family Service of San Diego, which had operated the southern California-based shelter for six years including the four years of the Biden administration, is laying off the 115 employees that it took to run the facility, which helped house, clothe, feed and provide services to some 240,000 illegal aliens since 2018.”
