“We were so close!” Comedian Jon Stewart cried out Monday, bemoaning how President Joe Biden’s dubious pardon of his son Hunter robbed Democrats of finally being able to claim the moral high ground.
“Finally! Democrats have a moral perch from which they can judge without shame, hypocrisy or nuance,” the hyper-leftist Stewart declared, opening a segment of “The Daily Show.”
Cutting to a clip a clip of “Breaking News” from CNN reporting that the president had pardoned his son, Stewart then feigned outrage over how close Democrats had come to attaining moral superiority.
“I’m sure the pardon is a very narrowly written, precisely drawn, farewell note of compassion for a loved one,” Stewart continued, beginning to rationalize the pardon – until a clip from “Today” detailed the breath of the pardon:
“The pardon – sweeping – covering offenses that Hunter Biden, quote, ‘Has committed or may have committed or taken part in’ over the past 11 years.’”
“Eleven years is a very specific – and not rounded – amount of time,” Stewart noted. “I didn’t know pardons could cover crimes you ‘may have committed,’” he added, incredulously.
