On Friday, Judge Juan Merchan announced in a letter that he is postponing former President Donald Trump’s sentencing for his dubious, so-called “hush money” convictions.

Merchan pushed back the sentencing date from September 18 until November 26, meaning it is now scheduled to take place after the 2024 presidential election pitting Vice President Kamala Harris against the former president.

Ironically, after making numerous rulings against Trump that legal analysts say show clear anti-Trump political bias and will be reversed by higher courts, Judge Merchan claims in his letter that he postponed sentencing in the name of “justice”:

“This is not a decision this Court makes lightly but it is the decision which run this Court's view, best advances the interests of justice.”

After displaying what appeared to be wanton animus towards Trump during the trial, Judge Merchan now says he’s concerned with “The public's confidence in the integrity of our judicial system.”

Judge Merchan writes that he wants to avoid any “appearance” of an effort to interfere with November’s presidential election and help Vice President Harris’ chance of winning:

“The imposition of sentence will be adjourned to avoid any appearance - however unwarranted-that the proceeding has been affected by or seeks to affect the approaching Presidential election in which the Defendant is a candidate."

In addition to the likelihood that higher courts will rule that Merchan made multiple reversible errors while presiding over Trump’s trial, the judge’s credibility has also been tainted by the revelation that his daughter works for a digital marketing and fundraising agency that represents a number of top Democrat candidates.
