Four of five small business owners say their assessment of the U.S. economy has improved since Donald Trump won the presidency in November – and that they expect revenues to grow in the months to come – a new national survey reveals.

Fully 80% say their opinion of the economy has improved since Trump’s election, according to the PublicSquare/RedBalloon survey conducted February 25-March 7. Half (51%) say their view of the economy has “greatly” improved.

Expectations for the economy has also improved drastically. In October, 57% of small business owners predicted a recession would hit in the next six months. Now, 68% think the economy will grow. Their expectations for their own businesses are also strong, as 79% look for revenues to increase over the next 12 months.

Since the month before the election, their rating of the climate for their business has improved from 52% negative to 60% positive. As a result, 79% now expect revenues to increase over the next 12 months.

Small business owners are also dismissing the dire warnings of media and liberal politicians regarding the Trump Administration’s tariff policies. Among a list of top concerns for the next six months, small business owners rate tariffs rate tariffs dead last (5%) and inflation (67%) number one.

Asked what Trump’s top three priorities should be for his first 100 days in office, small business owners rate putting a stop to wasteful government spending the most important:

  1. End wasteful spending/cut government size: 78%
  2. Deport illegals: 65%
  3. End DEI: 38%
