At least half of voters “strongly oppose” three top planks of the transgender agenda, a new national survey reveals.

In a survey conducted October 22-24, Rasmussen asked U.S. likely voters three questions about their views on transgender ideology:

  1. “Do you support or oppose men who identify as women being able to compete in women’s sports?”
  2. “Do you support or oppose men who identify as women being able to use women’s restrooms and locker rooms?”
  3. “Do you support or oppose taxpayer funding for transgender medical treatments?”

Nearly two-thirds of voters said they at least “somewhat” oppose each of the three:

  • 65% at least somewhat oppose men in women’s sports.
  • 64% at least somewhat oppose men in women’s restrooms and locker rooms.
  • 64% at least somewhat oppose taxpayer funded transgender medical treatments.

By greater than two-to-one margins, voters say they at least somewhat oppose rather than support men in women’s sports (65%-25%), men in women’s restrooms and locker rooms (64%-29%) and taxpayer funded transgender medical treatments (64%-28%).

What’s more, at least half of voters say the “strongly” oppose the three transgender goals:

  • 50% “strongly oppose” men in women’s sports.
  • 53% “strongly oppose” men in women’s restrooms and locker rooms.
  • 52% “strongly oppose” taxpayer funded transgender medical treatments.

The opposition is consistent across both gender (male, female) and racial cohorts, though those who support one of the three transgender goals are more likely to support the other two.

Democrat voters are much more likely to support the three planks of transgender ideology, as pluralities at least somewhat back taxpayer funded medical treatments (50%-29%) and men in women’s restrooms and locker rooms (50%-42%). By a slim 44%-42% margin, they oppose men competing in women’s sports.

Younger voters are also significantly more likely to back the three transgender desires, with at least 40% at least somewhat supporting them, though more still say they oppose each.

The issue of taxpayer funded transgender medical treatment drew national attention after both a 2019 questionnaire and video of Democrat Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris voicing support for providing it to inmates resurfaced.

At a National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) event on October 18, 2019, Harris said that, as San Francisco attorney general, she “worked behind the scenes” to circumvent state law and “made sure that they changed the policy in the state of California so that every transgender inmate in the prison system would have access to the medical care that they desired and need.”

“I feel very strongly about this,” Harris said, calling taxpayer funded transgender surgery for inmates “a civil rights issue,” “a justice issue” and “an issue of humanity.”
