A group of nine states filed a lawsuit Tuesday in an effort to halt implementation of President Joe Biden’s so-called “voter access” executive order using taxpayer funds to register voters, especially those in predominately Democrat voter groups.
Led by Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen (R), a coalition of nine state attorneys general are challenging Biden’s Executive Order 14019, which they contend is illegal and unconstitutional, particularly in its partisan use of federal funds and usurpation of state authority to regulate elections.
Dubbed “Bidenbucks” by concerned citizens who suspect that Biden is using taxpayer money to further his campaign for reelection, Biden’s 2021 executive order is allegedly about “promoting access to voting.”
However, the administration has doggedly rebuffed efforts, including those by members of Congress, seeking to learn the details of how the executive order’s mandates are being implemented by federal government agencies.
One driving force behind the administration’s cover-up appears to be that Biden’s executive order could well be breaking laws, such as the Hatch Act, as more than a dozen state attorneys general, along with other critics of Biden’s executive order, have warned.
“I will not stand by while the Biden-Harris administration attempts to shamelessly garner votes by employing its own agencies to register voters and disregard states (sic) own voter registration systems, putting the integrity of our elections at risk,” Attorney General Knudsen said in a statement announcing the lawsuit.
Filed in the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, the lawsuit asks the court to declare the executive order unconstitutional and unlawful and enjoin all agencies from implementing the order.
In particular, the lawsuit is challenging the Biden Administration’s efforts to register felons and those dependent on federal government payments, Attorney General Knudsen explained:
“The U.S. Department of Justice is registering imprisoned felons to vote—but there was never notice-and-comment on that policy to allow the public to weigh in on whether that is right. In many states, like Montana, it is illegal for felons to vote.
“The Department of the Treasury also said it would implement EO 14019 by including ‘information about registration and voter participation in its direct deposit campaigns for Americans who receive Social Security, Veterans Affairs, and other federal benefit payments.’”
The nine-state lawsuit isn’t the only legal challenge to Biden’s voter registration scheme; it’s just the latest.
In Pennsylvania, more than two dozen Republican lawmakers are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to take up their case and declare Biden’s executive order unconstitutional.
The Republican National Committee, Trump Campaign, and Michigan GOP have sued the Biden Administration for illegally using federal government agencies and resources under the pretext of Pres. Biden’s controversial “voter access” order.
And, voter integrity groups like America First Legal Foundation have also filed lawsuits attempting to obtain information about the voter registration scheme. The Heritage Oversight Project has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, as well. The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) filed a federal lawsuit challenging Biden’s executive order, which it says attempts to turn federal agencies into partisan voter registration machines.
