Pro-abortion activists marched through the streets of Chicago dressed as abortion pills Sunday, on the eve of the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
Donned in round designer costumes labeled “Mife” and “Miso” (shorthand for abortion drugs mifepristone and misoprostol), the protesters carried signs demanding greater access to abortion pill and “Free Abortion on Demand.” ”We're Abortion,” another sign read.
At least one sign, labeled “Abortion Pill Protocol,” provided instructions on how to induce an abortion using mifepristone, which is reportedly used in two-thirds of U.S. abortions.
“Vaginas brought you into this world and vaginas will vote you out!” declared the sign of one protester decrying efforts to restrict mifepristone. In June, the Supreme Court ruled that pro-life advocates lacked standing to sue the USDA over the approval and ease of access to mifepristone.
Protesters say the abortion pill costumes were made by a designer who has worked on “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
