House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) stoked fears of violence Friday, when he said Democrats opposed to Make America Great Again (MAGA) initiatives are going to take the fight into “the streets.”

Rep. Jeffries unleashed the threatening rhetoric while speaking at a press even, where he was condemning potential tax cuts he attributed to the “MAGA Republican agenda”:

“We are going to keep focused on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaire donors and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill. That is not acceptable.

“We are going to fight it legislatively.

“We are going to fight it in the courts.

“And, we are going to fight it in the streets.

“Thank you, everyone.”

After video clips of Jeffries’ threat were posted on Elon Musk’s X.com, the social media platform was flooded with responses expressing objections and concerns.

The White House subsequently posted a statement asking if Jeffries will apologize to the American people for his “sick call for violence.”

Will Jeffries Apologize

Jeffries’ remark echoes a similar fight-in-the-street comment he made earlier this week, and is redolent of other such threatening rhetoric by other Democrats, such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
