On Tuesday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) explained “the big takeaway” from the pardons granted by outgoing President Joe Biden and incoming President Donald Trump.
In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Chairman Jordan, joined by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), contrasted Trump’s pardon of January 6 Capitol riot participants with Biden’s preemptive pardon of family members under investigation for legally-dubious, yet highly profitable, financial dealings.
Chairman Comer laid out details of how ten family members (including President Biden) received more than $30 million from foreign entities, money that was reportedly laundered:
“Ironically, six of the pardons came from family that received payments that had been laundered. These are the words of six different banks. They were laundering money through shell companies that the Biden families received.
“He pardoned them preemptively and the only place in the world the spouses were ever named was in our investigation and the Oversight and Judiciary Committees.”
“You investigated every part of this. Didn't Hunter’s laptop talk about half his income going to pops? What's that message, didn't Joe's home repairs get paid for by Hunter Biden, according to emails with their economic guru Eric Sherwin if I'm not mistaken?” Hannity asked.
“All that took place,” Chairman Jordan confirmed.
Regarding the pardons granted, Jordan then noted the main difference between Biden and Trump – their level of honesty with the American people:
“What I really think was important today is President Trump did what he said he would do when it came to pardons and people, the defendants of January 6. And Joe Biden didn't.
“Joe Biden told us he would never pardon his family – and yet he did, all of them.
“Joe Biden said there were no pardons needed, you just heard it, for folks who were involved with the January 6 Committee – and yet he did.
“And so, Joe Biden did exactly opposite what he told us he was going to do. President Trump did exactly what he said.”
“I think that's the big takeaway from the actions you see from both the outgoing president and, of course, our current president,” Jordan concluded.
