“People’s lives were better” during the Trump Administration, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Wednesday – and Biden Administration statistics prove he’s right.

A comparison of the Trump and Biden administrations “speaks volumes,” Sen. Cruz explained in an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime”:

“The Biden record is a train wreck. The American people are doing much worse after three and a half years of Bidenomics and inflation and open borders and crime – not to mention two wars and the disaster that Biden’s brought in.

“And when you contrast it, when we had Donald Trump, when we had a Republican House, when we had a Republican Senate: we had the economy was booming, we had peace and prosperity.”

“People’s lives were better,” Cruz concluded.

Inarguably, when it comes to how Bidenomics has affected Americans’ lives, the federal government’s own metrics show he’s right:

  • Real wages are down under Biden, but rose under Trump.
  • Mortgage rates have more than doubled under Biden, after falling by a third under Trump.
  • Americans’ average savings rate has declined to less than a third its level when Trump left office.
  • Consumer prices are on pace to increase nearly three times as much under Biden as they did during Trump’s presidency.
  • Gas prices are up 46%, in just 38 months under Biden, but held steady during Biden’s term.

“The classic question in any election is: are you better now than you were four years ago?” Sen. Cruz said.

“And, unless you are a Big Tech billionaire or a drug cartel lord, in which case the answer is ‘Yes,’ you’re better off under Biden and you ought to vote for Biden. If you’re a drug lord, Biden’s your guy," Cruz said.
