Some activists block rush hour traffic to draw attention to their cause. Some deface museum paintings. Saturday, on International Women’s Day, one feminist group took an even bolder approach in order to protest U.S. President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, French President Marine Le Pen and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
About 40 topless women with swastikas painted on their bare chests marched in formation through the streets of Paris wearing military caps while giving the Nazi salute and shouting “Heil Musk! Heil Trump! Heil Poutine!”
Some had American flags painted on their bare chests, alongside the Nazi symbol.
The women were members of the radical feminist group FEMEN.
“FEMEN believe ‘the planet is dominated by two power-hungry men, manipulate madmen obsessed with money and control,’” The Federal reports, noting that the women were practicing what they consider “Sextremism”:
“According to these activists, ‘Sextremism is women’s mockery of vulgar male extremism, its bloody mayhems, and its culture of terror.’”
This isn’t the first time FEMEN has pulled the topless Sextremism stunt. Fox example, back on May 1, 2015, bare-chested FEMEN disrupted a speech by Pres. Le Pen, as The Guardian reported at the time:
“For five minutes, they drowned out Le Pen’s speech with a bullhorn as the Front National leader told the crowd: ‘It’s quite a paradox when you call yourself a feminist and try to disturb a tribute to Joan of Arc.’”
Eventually, the FEMEN protesters were removed from the event.
