“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!” President Donald Trump declared Monday, reacting to a comment made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over the weekend.

In a Truth Social post, Pres. Trump commented on an Associated Press (AP) headline:

“Ukraine’s Zelenskyy says end of war with Russia is ‘very, very far away’”

Zelenskyy’s comment in London, a day after a heated exchange with Trump in the Oval Office Friday upended a minerals deal that would have provided security to Ukraine, shows that Zelenskyy wants war, not peace, with Russia, Trump wrote:

“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer! It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing and, Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelenskyy, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. – Probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”

Pres. Zelenskyy said that he expects the U.S. to continue providing aid to Ukraine in a protracted war, despite his contentious, public rejection of Trump’s peace plan, the AP article reports:

“A deal to end the war between Ukraine and Russia ‘is still very, very far away,’ Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, adding that he expects to keep receiving American support despite his recent fraught relations with U.S. President Donald Trump.”

……

“‘I believe that Ukraine has a strong enough partnership with the United States of America’ to keep aid flowing, he said at a briefing in Ukrainian before leaving London.”
