Vice President Kamala Harris can claim she’s not responsible for the Biden-Harris administration’s failed policies, but voters aren’t buying it, results of a new national poll reveal.
Despite her claimed rejection of Biden policies, ranging from fracking and taxing tips to finishing former President Donald Trump’s border wall, U.S. likely voters largely blame Democrat presidential nominee Harris for Biden’s policy failures and credit her for their successes.
More than half (52%) of voters say Pres. Biden’s policies have been “mostly failures,” while just 39% say they’ve been “mostly successful,” results of a national survey of U.S. likely voters released Wednesday show.
While Republican and Democrat voters greatly disagree about the success of Biden’s policies, 57% of those not affiliated with either party consider the policies to be failures. Another 13% of unaffiliated voters aren’t sure, while under a third (31%) deem Biden’s policies mostly successful.
Voters strongly associate Harris with Biden’s policies. Of those who think Biden’s policies have failed, 80% says she bears at least some responsibility and more than half (52%) believe she deserves “a lot” of the blame. Conversely, 84% of those who think the policies have worked, give Harris at least some of the credit.
Disaffected voters are the most likely to hold Harris accountable. Nine of ten (86%) of those who say she deserves a lot of blame also think Biden’s policies have failed, while 62% who say she deserves some blame believe Biden’s policies have failed.
Regardless of their party affiliations, voters strongly disapprove of a candidate flip-flopping on policies.
Fully 86% of voters say it’s important for a political leader to maintain consistent policy positions, including a 55% majority who think it’s “very important.”
