To expose the legacy media’s refusal to report the immigration status of people arrested who are illegally in the U.S., the White House has posted a “Fake News Media Reframing Guide.”
“Here’s your Fake News Media Reframing Guide-perfect for turning MS-13 gangbangers into ’Maryland Dads,’” the White House mocks in a social media post referencing the high-profile case of Albrego Garcia, an illegal alien from El Salvador taken into custody in Maryland.
Legacy media references to Garcia as a “Maryland Man,” and omitting his immigration status, are ubiquitous.
The media’s dishonest portrayal of illegal aliens isn’t limited to Garcia, however.
In their determination of destigmatize illegal immigration, legacy media are loath to acknowledge that an illegal alien has been arrested - regardless of how horrific the charges might be, the White House X.com post demonstrates.
In addition to the exposing coverage of Garcia – who was not only in the U.S. illegally before being deported, but is also a confirmed MS-13 gang member – the post notes how the media are reframing the cases of illegal aliens arrested in Brooklyn and Georgia by insinuating that they are citizens of those areas.
To document the media’s misleading framing, the White House also posted a post by conservative commentator Steve Guest providing examples from The New York Times, the Associated Press (AP) and ABC News.
The AP story omits the illegal immigrant status of the man arrested for (and ultimately convicted of) the notorious murder of nursing student Laken Riley in Georgia.
The ABC News story fails to mention Garcia’s immigration status in an article about how his wife accused him of physically abusing her and obtained a protective order against him.
The New York Times article omits the illegal immigration status of a “Brooklyn man” charged with first-degree rape – of a corpse.
