While everyone is focused on the mess that is the situation in Afghanistan, the U.S. border is basically a sieve and people — including children — illegally crossing the border are being distributed across the country. It’s unsustainable to do such at such a rapid rate, so one state’s governor is attempting to do something about it.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) recently wrote a letter to the Biden regime’s Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas concerning the “Resettlement of Illegal Aliens in Florida.”

In the letter DeSantis flat out accused DHS of “aiding and abetting” in the “lawlessness” of resettling the illegal aliens.

DeSantis wrote in the letter:

While Floridians are working to ensure that criminal aliens are not released back into our communities, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appears to be hard at work resettling ever larger numbers of illegal aliens who have no lawful status under federal immigration law from the southwest border to Florida. I ask that DHS immediately cease any further resettlement of illegal aliens in Florida and that the aliens instead be removed from the United States or resettled in states that support the administration’s continued flouting of our immigration laws. Floridians welcome responsible immigration that serves the interests of Florida and the American people, but we cannot abide the lawlessness that your department is aiding and abetting on the southwest border.

The governor has practically been deemed a monster by his opponents on the left all throughout the pandemic because of his willingness to allow Floridians to live their lives as they see fit.

Is he also a monster for attempting to protect his constituents from the possibility of a criminal element being among those who were resettled into his state? How dare he think of the people who elected him over people that entered the U.S. illegally!

DeSantis also noted the difference in allowing illegal aliens to inhabit the country, with notices to appear in court, between the Biden regime and former President Donald Trump’s “last full month” of his administration.

According to U.S. Border Patrol statistics, the number of illegal aliens who were issued a notice to appear or order of recognizance and subsequently released by the Border Patrol in July alone was a staggering 59,691, a massive increase from the 1,324 in this category who were released in January. (This number does not include released by ICE of other federal agencies, so we know the total number of releases is even larger.) By contrast, in the last full month of the previous administration, only 17 persons in this category were released.

How’s that “Build Back Better” working for you?
