During an interview on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein admitted no law could have stopped Stephen Paddock, the madman behind the Las Vegas mass shooting that took place last week.

"Face the Nation" host John Dickerson asked Feinstein if Congress could have passed any law that might have been able to stop Stephen Paddock from committing the shooting.

"No," replied Feinstein.

"He passed background checks registering for handguns and other weapons on multiple occasions," she added.

Feinstein's response comes at a time when Congress, including Republican members, are considering regulations for bump-stock devices, which increase the rate of fire for semi-automatic weapons.

Feinstein still asserts that Congress should still push gun control legislation and introduced a bill to ban bump-stocks. The bill currently has 38 Democratic sponsors, but will require bipartisan support to pass. The Democratic Senator told Dickerson that a bump stock ban is "one small thing" that Congress can do to limit people's ability to increase a weapon's lethality.
