The oldest dog in the world passed away peacefully on Monday.

Maggie was a kelpie who lived with her owner, Brian McLaren, in Australia. She was believed to be 30 years old, according to a report in the Weekly Times Now.

“She was 30 years old, she was still going along nicely last week, she was walking from the dairy to the office and growling at the cats and all that sort of thing,” [McLaren] told the newspaper, adding that the dog has started deteriorating two days previously.

According to a write-up in the Independent, her owner Brian McLaren lost the original paperwork which could have proven the dog's age.

At the age of 30, Maggie was over 200 in human years, and a contender for the oldest dog in the world, but Mr [sic] McLaren had lost the original paperwork for the dog, meaning that her age could not be independently verified.

7 News Perth posted a video about Maggie and her incredible longevity on social media last November.
