Some people love being victims, and it seems as though Dove — yes, the soap people — are using the accomplishments of more talented people to show the world how virtuous they think they are.
The movie “The Whale” recently won an Oscar for best hair and makeup, to which some colored hair freaks on Twitter didn’t appreciate because they weren’t given attention for being legitimately fat.
Some Twitter user called “@KBHeylen,” whose tweets are protected because IT is a special little flower, didn’t take kindly to actors acting and playing pretend, which is literally they’re only job.
“So disappointing that ‘The Whale’ won the Oscar for best hair and makeup. Fat suits are harmful — they are not your opportunity to win awards. Our identity is not your costume. Cast fat actors to play fat characters. #TheWhale #fatphobia #fatsuit #Oscars,” @KBHeylen tweeted, according to The Daily Wire.
That’s when Dove stepped into the debate and showed their level of intelligence — or lack thereof.
“Stop giving fat suits awards!!” Dove tweeted. “We want better representation in Hollywood. #LetsChangeBeauty”
First, you can't “change beauty.” Beauty is beauty — has been since the beginning of time. Not everyone is visually appealing. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Second, “Fat suits are harmful?” You know what’s harmful? Yours truly is overweight, so I can confidently tell you that fat suits aren’t harmful. You know what is? Being fat.
Finally, it’s called acting. If only people who are the same as the character can play said character, it ceases to be acting and merely becomes a dramatic representation.
It’s an award for best hair and makeup, not largest fat ass.
This is so stupid that I’ll just let someone who responded to Dove’s tweet close us out here:
As a fat man....no. With this mentality, Tom Hanks would have never starred in or won for Philadelphia. Let the actors act...
